Anthroposophy (Greek: anthropos = human, sophia = knowledge, understanding, wisdom) means ‘knowledge of the human being.’ Therefore, all the writings and lectures of the founder of anthroposophy aim to promote human self-understanding, development, work, and the relationship between humanity, the Earth, and the cosmos.

It offers an individual path of development and self-education that meets each person where they are. In addition, its writings contain profound insights about the spiritual side of existence—that is, about life after death and before birth, about reincarnation, destiny, and the evolution of the Earth and humanity. Anthroposophy becomes practical in that the insights gained from it can be made fruitful for all areas of life, from education to economic life and banking.

Anthroposophy contains social ideas, perspectives for a new understanding of the state, and concepts for the tasks of a modern democracy and civil society. Drawing on the three ideals of the French Revolution—’liberty, equality, and fraternity’—it speaks of the Threefold Structure of the Social Organism: a free spiritual, educational, and cultural life; a sphere of the state focused on the legal equality of all people and the creation of conditions for a free cultural life; and an economic life built on respect and solidarity.

Since these three spheres of life depend on one another and exist for one another, communication forms are needed that enable constructive cooperation among the representatives of these three areas.

Those who work on their inner development are able to radiate more calm, empathy, humanity, and joy. They become less easily distracted by trivial things, learn to focus, and learn to respect the autonomy of others. It fosters new interests and questions, enriching daily life and relationships in every respect.
