Money and the economy as instruments for mutually supportive activity

Money and the economy

Today's zero-interest situation presents us with new questions and challenges. Traditional types of banks cannot survive long-term in this interest-free environment. Our global economy is increasingly faced with limits to growth, whether due to limited resources or to lack of demand. Both the financial system and the economy require new ideas and business models to become sustainable again. We need an economy that respects the natural limits to growth and does justice to the life of human beings and nature.

ELIANT supports and encourages initiatives and companies involved in economic and monetary endeavours. Many business initiatives have been launched in Europe and across the world over the last 50 years, some of which have grown into quite large companies. Their activities have included health foods, renewable energy, environmental technology, banks, medicines, natural cosmetics, mail order companies, clothing, household products and much else besides. Many of these enterprises came into being after people had spent years studying the concept of social three-folding or ideas on economics and money developed by Rudolf Steiner. The principle of sustainable development is also significant.

ELIANT sees itself as having a role in raising awareness for some important topics, such as the question of land ownership, new ways of handling money (regional currency etc.) as well as the long-term handling of company assets.
