Dear Friends of ELIANT,
On 25th March 2021 the European Parliament voted by an overwhelming majority to approve the report "shaping digital education policy". The report is the European Parliaments response to the EU Action Plan for Digital Education which sketches out their vision for high value, inclusive and accessible digital education in Europe for the years 2021-2027.
This report also reflects the hard lobbying work carried out by the ELIANT alliance and its member organisations the European Council for Steiner Waldorf Education (ECSWE) and International Association of Steiner/Waldorf Early Childhood Education (IASWECE). We are very pleased that many of our recommendations have been taken up. That we have been able to defend the idea of an age-appropriate approach to digital education that is so vital for sensory-motor development, is particularly gratifying. The successful completion of our petition calling for screen-free kindergarten and primary education with a grand total of 100,425 signatures, gave the necessary weight to our campaign. I would therefore like warmly to thank you for the support you have given us. You can find the press release about the successful conclusion to our petition campaign, here.
ELIANT together with its member organisations ECSWE und IASWECE will continue to follow the process in Brussels regarding the implementation of the Action Plan and its interim review in 1924 and do everything in its power to support a form of media education that is orientated towards development and retain the option for screen-free kindergarten and primary education. This is a huge and very labour-intensive task. We will be delighted to inform you all about important steps and outcomes.
With gratitude for having reached this first interim goal, I send warm greetings on behalf of the ELIANT team
We are always grateful for donations to support our work.
