A positive outlook for young people

Encouraging children and young people to take meaningful action for the earth and people is particularly important now. Many are still suffering from the effects of the pandemic, but they are also absorbing a lot of the worries of adults about the future and suffering from developmental disorders due to excessive screen time. The consequences are an alarming increase in anxiety disorders, depression, and addiction risk. Good education can have a very positive impact in this context, which is why we are pleased to report on the outcome of the online conference held by our ELIANT member ECSWE, which we announced in our last newsletter, on the topic of ‘our green stories’.
The conference featured inspiring stories from across Europe and beyond, including an eco-friendly travel competition organised by pupils at Orust Waldorskola (Sweden), a creative nature course developed by teachers at Kristofferskolan (Sweden), as well as the SEKEM Initiative for sustainable development and organic farming from Egypt. These stories show how everyone, pupils and adults alike, can contribute to making the world a better place within their sphere of influence.
