AMR is a major public health threat and a consequence of the over- and misuse of antibiotics.

Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is a major global public health threat and infections caused by multi-resistant bacteria are predicted to be a leading cause of death by 2050. It affects humans, animals, plants and the environment due to over- and misuse of antibiotics, and discharge of waste products from pharmaceutical production plants and hospitals into water bodies.

Contributing to the ways this issue can be tackled, the International Federation of Anthroposophic Medical Association (IVAA) has publishing a new position paper on AMR, calling on decision-makers to take action in the areas of policy, public education, and research and development, by including integrative medicine approaches in their national action plans to fight AMR. IVAA stresses the need for a One Health approach in tackling AMR.
