Appeal for donations for the work of ELIANT in 2025

Activity report and our warm request for your support

Dear Friends of ELIANT,

At the end of the year, we would like to take this opportunity to look back together with you at what we have been able to do and achieve with your support, and to look ahead at what will continue to occupy us.

ELIANT’s activities regarding legislation and ordinances/regulations
Polarisation and populism are on the rise. So are centralising and anti-democratic trends. It is therefore all the more important in this context that the people in civil society try to do as much as possible to counteract this. We have seen how successful this can be with regard to the German health minister’s demand to remove homoeopathy and anthroposophic medicine from the catalogue of the statutory health insurance funds. An important choice in the health sector was set to disappear. Together with other organisations, ELIANT successfully participated in the petition and it was possible to put a stop to the plan.

Our efforts, together with many ecologically active partners, to stop the use of the highly toxic plant protection product glyphosate were less successful. The crucial thing, however, is not to give up.

It was also very disappointing that it was not possible to make the licensing procedure for the new GMO technologies subject to the existing GMO legislation. The power of the agricultural lobby is too great also in Brussels. Further efforts are needed by the European organic movements to ensure that organic farming can remain GMO-free. We will stay on the case and keep you updated.

In April and at the beginning of December, we informed you about the WHO pandemic treaty and the International Health Regulations. The implementation of both is the responsibility of the WHO member states. Here it is particularly important that we all get involved regionally in our countries and link up with citizens’ initiatives.

ELIANT ‘Culture of Peace’ webinars
Since April 2024, we have organised a series of webinars that can help raise awareness of how to work in concrete terms on a culture of peace. Fear and hostile stereotypes are the driving force behind the polarisation in our societies. Peace skills are based on an interest in the diversity of life and a love of people and our opportunities for development on earth. We will continue to do our utmost to achieve this. Further webinars are planned for 2025.

Our great concern for age-appropriate media use is slowly becoming a reality
For seven years we have been campaigning for  age-appropriate media use and are very pleased that a global rethink is underway. Nevertheless, a lot of engagement and education is still needed here, because such a reversal is extremely difficult in practice.  Our media guide gives helpful tips in this respect!

Our hopes
In 2025, we want to continue to stand up for the dignity of the human being and their inalienable rights, and to campaign throughout the EU for the preservation of important freedoms of choice and rights of liberty. To do this, we rely on your financial support. Even seemingly small donations make a significant contribution. The warmth that comes with this gives us strength for our work and the wonderful feeling of being connected to many people of ‘good will’. And so we would like to conclude our appeal for donations for our work in the coming year with a big thank you to you all, who have made our activities in 2024 possible, and with the hope that you will continue to stay connected with our work in the coming year.

With all good wishes for a blessed Christmas
and warm greetings – also on behalf of all the members of the Alliance
Yours
Michaela Glöckler
Warmest thanks for your Christmas donation
