ELIANT Conference and news on GMOs and digitalisation

Good thoughts are the heralds of good deeds

Dear Friends of ELIANT,

Our Brussels event on 20 May 2025 is drawing closer and we are very happy that many people from all over the world have already registered!
It is a matter close to our hearts to come together on this day with a great many people in Brussels and online worldwide. In an age defined by old and new images of the enemy and defence scenarios, as well as economic and political power struggles, we want to share positive thoughts and reawaken and reinforce our humanistic visions for the development of the future.
Please register here. Attendance is free of charge, of course. Here in Brussels, we are pleased to invite the participants not only to personal conversation, but also to healthy snacks and drinks during the breaks and, afterwards, to a concert.

Good news from Germany
Our Alliance member Gesundheit aktiv has – with like-minded partners and a petition, as well as a public consultation – achieved that freedom of choice in medical care will be preserved: homoeopathy and anthroposophic medicine will remain optional services of the statutory health insurance!

Gratifying
While a good ten years ago we encountered fierce resistance to our campaign for screen-free kindergartens and primary schools – along the lines of ‘backward-looking to the stone age and hostile to progress’ – we are suddenly in the best of company, with more and more education officials and school principals in various countries recognising the effects of age-inappropriate screen use on children and young people. A constructive collaboration has connected us with diagnosefunk and the Bündnis für humane Bildung for many years. Together we have published the media guide Growing up healthy in a world of digital media in 18 languages. The German edition will be published this spring with the latest updates.

A very worrying piece of news: the deregulation of genetic engineering in the EU!
On 14 March 2025, the Council of Ministers of the European Union approved the draft for the deregulation of new GM technologies. With this decision, Europe is further turning its back on the basic principles of food safety and the preservation of freedom of choice for citizens, endangering the environment and in particular organic and biodynamic agriculture, which is based on guaranteed GMO-free production. In the next few days, ELIANT will be calling on all members of the European Parliament to protect the precautionary principle in the forthcoming negotiations and to make it clear that in Europe innovations must be risk-tested in advance and that all products developed using genetic engineering must be labelled as such.

Warm regards – on behalf of the whole ELIANT team
Yours
Michaela Glöckler
