Last chance: Please help preserve the right to freedom of choice in the light of the planned new regulation on genetically modified organisms/GMOs.

The European Parliament and the Council of Ministers will be holding final rounds of voting in the coming weeks before the regulation on new GMOs is adopted.

Please use this link to send an email to the MEPs from your constituency and urge them to vote in favour of strict rules for all new GMO products in the final vote in the European Parliament! That will demonstrate broad support for the ELIANT letter that we are sending to all members of the Parliament!

For the EU plans to significantly relax the requirements for new GMOs, also known as ‘new genomic techniques’. If this less stringent regulation were to be adopted, there would no longer be any prior safety checks, mandatory traceability or labelling requirements on packaging for these genetically modified organisms. This would mean that genetically modified products would end up on our fields and plates without our knowledge. We demand that labelling on packaging must be guaranteed throughout the entire value chain.
