We can now stop bees dying by ending pesticide use!

Please help us to gather the 256,000 signatures that are still misssing.

Dear Friends of ELIANT,

Back in November 2019 we announced the launch of a citizens initiative supported by ourselves and our partner organisations. 744,000 people have signed the petition to date – but this is not yet enough! We need another 256,000 signatures by the 30th September 2021 in order to reach the million signatures required to have a significant influence on EU policy. If you have not yet done so please sign here and pass this link and the newsletter on to your friends and acquaintances and urge them to do likewise. This petition can unfortunately only be signed by EU citizens.

What do we hope to achieve with this collective effort?

  1. The initiative is not only about ending the use of pesticides but also concerns the urgent need for an ecological/agricultural transformation and the provision of support for farmers that this requires.
  2. By 2030 the use of synthetic pesticides in EU agriculture should be reduced by 80% and by 2035 end completely!
  3. The EU Council agreed on 28th June 2021 that as a “conservation objective” pesticides could kill up to ten per cent of a bee colony. And this doesn’t include the cocktail effects, chronic stress and more subtle effects on bees. This we want to change!
  4. In 2022 the EU Commission will decide whether to renew the glyphosate licence from 2023. The application for this has already been submitted. With the support of a million signatures we want to stop the use of glyphosate for the next 15 years!

Thank you for signing

With warm greetings on behalf the ELIANT team
