Dear Friends of ELIANT,
ELIANT aims to continue strongly with its activity in Brussels during 2020. This involves forming connections with the newly elected MEPs and the newly appointed members of the Commission. We are also facing fundamental changes in many areas of life, changes which limit individual development, the democratic guarantee of freedom of choice and threaten human dignity.
A particularly painful example of this continues to be the enforced introduction of digitalisation in Kindergartens and schools without any regard for its effects on the development of children and young people; furthermore in November the EU issued a strong recommendation for artificial intelligence to be used in schools and training courses and – apart from Malta – every EU country signed up to it even though not a single study has been undertaken to show the benefits of such a step. The rollout of the 5G network is likewise being pursued without any accompanying research into its effect on biological systems. We also want to continue campaigning on behalf of climate-friendly agriculture and the retention of species diversity as well as raise awareness for the constructive cultural contribution which anthroposophy can make on a European level.
The financial support provided by many citizens will enable us to continue with our work. Every donation is an encouragement and provides an incentive for our work. Through your donations over the past year for example, we have contributed to European development as follows:
- Advised the Panel on Culture and Education in the European Parliament regarding education in the digital age – and the challenges, opportunities and insights for developing EU policy.
- Produced Short videos with tips on the use of digital gadgets by children and young people as part of our campaign for humane education.
- Produced a Video on the task of schools in relation to digital media use. Supported the translation of the media guide into the varous EU languages.
- Produced a Video on the importance of holistic medicine for patients Participated in events arranged by the EU Commission and European Parliament that were important to Eliant and its members.
